If I follow your BU ratings, I would not touch anything under 80%. I also purchased 3 BenQ based on your recommendation just to find out how terrible brightness uniformity is. I kept the best one of the 3 as a cheap transition for better, more expensive unit. The measured 61% brightness uniformity is low for a home theater projector, although it is in the typical range for most entry-level models. BenQ says that the lens is identical to the one in the BenQ HT2050 that we measured at 67%, so this may simply be a variation from one unit to the next, or a minor problem with the particular unit we tested.

But you totally missed my point - give me the same HT2050/A but with 80%+ BU, I would pay $1000 for it. There is just no 1080p DLP units with better brightness uniformity ~ $1000 mark . You'll also be paying a lot more with the UST for the option to place the projector up front in the room vs having a more traditional longer throw. Keep in mind, though that the 2050A is a 1080p projector vs the UST's 4K resolution with HDR compatibility. If you budget permits, you'll be much better off with one of BenQ's late generation or upcoming 4K gaming projectors that combine high brightness with low input lag and special gaming modes. The 4K options are the existing TK700STi short throw projector or the upcoming X3000i or TK700 longer throw models. Better contrast ratio and color than its counterparts create some of the best picture quality we've seen in this price range.

As it happens, I feel the same way about rainbow artifacts. I hate them, I see them when others can't, and I will not buy a projector that has that flaw.

I compared the HT2050A to the Epson HC2150 and the Viewsonic PX727HD. The latter, like the BenQ, is DLP. The Epson, like the majority of Epson's projectors, is LCD. So depending where you place the projector, you'll have a few inches of vertical leeway, but that's it.

The 2 projectors you quoted are far more expensive. @ Kane, BenQ will begin shipping this model as the W1120 in Australia in end of May or early June. Fixed vertical offset conducive to ceiling mounting, but may be problematic for mounting on shelf behind seating area. Filter projectors based on your desired features and specs.
